Simply Amazing! Review by Lisa
I recently started playing the ukulele with a cheap used soprano. I put some D'addario strings on it and fell in love with the instrument quickly. I wanted a concert ukulele and began some extensive research. After reading reviews and listening to a couple on youtube I kept coming back to Caramel. Delivery took just 8 days to the UK and we checked it before my husband confiscated it to wrap it and put under the Christmas tree. It was well packaged in polystyrene and in perfect condition. It sounds great and the strings have already begun to settle and hold its tune after just 5 days. I will be using Caramel again to add to my collection hope to buy a tenor next. If I had one minor niggle it is that there are no side position fret markers which I would have liked to see and hope they are added in the future. A friend who owned a guitar shop and also plays guitar and uke visited yesterday and was extremely impressed and confirmed that the setup was good and no adjustments were needed.

My wishlist is growing and playing is getting a little better and I can't get over the difference in sound compared to the other one! (Posted on 1/3/2017)
great uke, recommended! Review by Cpt. Offline
I have owned quite a lot of ukes in the last five years, most of them more expensive than this. Still, I'm always looking for new stuff, and when I found the Caramel website, I decided to take the risk of possibly sinking 37$ shipped. I was not expecting a lot, so when I received this uke after not even two weeks, I was more than happy. The setup was playable out-of-the-box, the finish was nicely done, and I could not find any bad thing on this uke. Sure, I changed the factory strings immediately (to fluorocarbon), sure, the frets were not super-silky, but everything was more than okay. So nice that it quickly became my go-to kitchen sofa uke, and the one i played most frequently in the past 5 months. Until I gave it to my sister-in-law, who is a new mother, low on money and into learning to play ukukele. So now I need to replace it, as I really miss it now it's gone. great buy! :-) (Posted on 12/18/2016)
Great Ukulele at the Price Review by Chris
I bought a Zebrawood Concert and Tenor for my middle school choir program. I have incorporated ukulele as a way for students to have a musical outreach other than choir, and so they can develop a skill they can take with them out of middle school if they don't take high school music (students have to take music, so if they are not in band or orchestra, they have to take choir whether they want to sing or not).

We bought 58 of another brand of ukulele as a cheap way to get into ukulele. Then I found Caramel on eBay--and then on Amazon. I bought a Zebrawood Concert and Tenor, with the idea that even if the instruments were not playable, we would have examples of other sizes of ukuele on hand.

When the ukuleles arrived, I was stunned by what arrived. The instruments are well made, sound great, and compete easily with any of my other laminate ukuleles. I teach in the Midwest, so a purchase of a sold wood ukulele without a way to humidify a classroom is a recipe for disaster--so laminate ukuleles are a perfect solution for me.

If I am critical, our Caramel ukuleles have three problems. First, there is an interior brace that is visible through the sound hole, and it is crooked. That brace should either be straight or lower (not visible through the sound hole). Second, the frets have a sharp edge. These should be smoother (some Caramel owners file them down). Finally, the nut (white piece on the top) also has a sharp edge--this should also be addressed. You aren't going to cut yourself, but you feel the edges.

Otherwise, the instruments stay in tune (as well as any ukulele), put up with the climate in the choir room (temperature and humidity), and general abuse from daily use. I found that if I didn't set specific rules for my students, they would argue with each other about using the Caramels.

Our solution will be to add more.

If you are new to ukulele---this is a great place to start. It won't break your budget at all. Look at the price and buy it. If you are an experienced ukulele player, you might want to look at some of Caramel's solid wood instruments.

All I I know is that I am recommending this instrument to any music educator that I know--and I like many of the offerings from other manufacturers. You just can't beat what you get for this price. (Posted on 7/23/2016)
